I am looking for the best octave pedal for they money. I am hoping to get something for around $100 give or take. I just want a really nice octave pedal without spending $300.
Thanks,

| | | | I would actually recommend a used MIJ Boss OC-2. It's a classic, it's cheap, and it's readily available on ebay. |

| | | | What kind of chords did you play? Will it track triads, sevenths, and nine chords?
The OC-2 was good enough for Jaco, it's good enough for us. It's simple and it does the trick for me. Maybe you have had different results, but I like it and recommend it.

The OC-2 was good enough for Jaco, it's good enough for us. | I'm all up for vintage gear but as octavers go not many beat the BSW. Personally my fav is the Dod Octoplus as the tone of the octave down is fantastic but its not as fast as the BSW and can't handle chords.
Also the Octron rules all for speed, tone etc etc but thats way out of his price range.
But I'm just going now to throw all my amps away and my 5 strings etc etc because they aren't good enough for Jaco.

| | | | I didn't say your amps aren't good enough for Jaco... that doesn't even make any sense, what are you talking about? I merely made the point that the OC-2 has been used by a bass great to make good sounds and is therefore capable of them... you understand the point?
And what kind of chords will your Bass Synth Wah track? |

And I thought all of this "Jaco" madness would be limited to fretless bass discussions...

| | | | I didn't say it's the best octave pedal in the world and I certainly didn't say we should all go out and replicate anyone's rig. All I said was it's a decent buy for the money, which is what the original poster is looking for. Whether you disagree with that or not, there's no reason to get offended.

And what kind of chords will your Bass Synth Wah track? | You said an OC-2 is good enough for Jaco so it's good enough for us so by the same logic we should all be playing acoustic amps and fretless jazz's because they were also good enough for him.
The OC-2 is also good enough for plenty of my favourite players and I'll be buying one soon but not because its the fastest and best tracking more for it's glitchy nature. But end of the day while it's good enough for various people it isn't for me and various other people on this board who are hard core effect users.
Chords I play with it as all 3 note based root,5th,oct root,3rd,7th root,5th,9th etc etc all worked fine for me obviously these aren't chords you play at the first fret of the low b string but e string 7th and up which is how you should use an octaver it's perfect
