Simple question, what is the best pedal for octaves up out there?
I currently use a Whammy IV, which i love, but it ***** itself when i do chords or there are even two notes ringing at the same time. I will still use my Whammy, but i was wondering if there are any pedals out there that can work even better than this one.
Does the micro pog handle chords in octaves up? |

I would imagine the name says it all.....

I don't care for 'pitch transposer' type up-octaves - sounds like a 'munchkin' - love the organ like tone of the POG.

There are a few dirty ones out there, like the Foxrox Octron and EHX Bass Micro Synthesizer. And then Octave Fuzz pedals generate their own upper octaves as well.
For clean and monophonic... count in all of the Digitech Whammy models and the Boss PS-2.

Hoah-lee Moley!
Ah-freakin' MAZING.
What's freakn' me the most, at the moment, is this: For several months now I've been working on 'Jaco-syle' harmonic pings - this is the technique inwhich you fret normally, then use the thumb to stop the harmonic, and use index to pluck the string. I usually use it for arpeggiating-out chords.
With the POG it sounds like the absolute coolest steel drum tone, like rich, airy chmes.
Another thing which greatly pleases me is that the delay is impercieveable; you can perfectly well leave out the dry signal, and there's no appreaciable groove-wrecking delay to throw you off.
Oh, MAN!
..And Milwaukee GC sold me one off the demo board for US$250

| | | | I hate to revive an old thread, but I figure it's better than making my own repeat thread. Anyway, which of these pedals would be best to be used primarily for simulating rhythm guitar?
What I mean is, I've been keeping an eye out for a clean octave-up pedal with none of the original signal coming out of it unless I want it to via blend knob or something. Also, the option of being able to add a fifth or even a third and a fifth so you'd end up with power chords or chords and octave up would be sweeet.
Can the Boss PS-5 do this? I could always line up a pitch shifter after the octave pedal if not.
If it helps to know, I eventually plan on having my signal split at one point so I have bass going into one amp and a raised note going through other effects (like distortion n whatnot) into a guitar amp, kinda Chris Wolstenholme style. |

It adds a distorted signal an octave above what you play - designed to compensate for a missing rhythm guitar.

The PS-3 in particular is one of the only pedals I know that can do both a fifth and an octave up (or fifth and third, or whatever combo you want) at the same time with your clean signal for three-note chords. The PS-5 can only do one pitch in harmony with your clean signal, not two.
I belive the Akai Unibass can do this (fifth and octave up) as well.
