The best distortion for me is the Darkglass B7K. It sounds amazing on it's own, but it really shines live.

The ability to blend your tone as well.. MWAH.....

I love it, money well spent.

THANKS DOUGLAS!

I have a B3K but i would hardly call it warm. it has a lot of sizzle that can't really be dialed down. it has its own thing going and i dont know of anything that sounds like it.

Having said that, my favorite ODs right now is the Oh See Demon and Wampler Plexi-Drive. for tube-like warmth, dynamics and dirt they are hard to beat.

What's the difference between the US and Finland B3Ks?

Also pushing on the topic subject, money no issue, B3K or B7K?

The US pedals are said to be far more reliable due to the chassis mounted jacks and relay based switch.

Money no object? B7K obviously. It's a B3K with a ton of other stuff

Tough question. Doesn't it really depend on how sh*tty your guitarists sound at the time?

Far more reliable? Has anyone had a problem with the Finnish product? I, for one have not... just saying.

Edit: I stand corrected.

First of all going to agree with every kind word ever said about the b3k. Rainbows and sunbeams shine out of your speakers if you use that pedal.

But as for a more unlikely contender for my affections, enter the "Joyo High Gain Distortion" pedal for guitar. I got it for about £20 four years ago and never bothered to try it out on bass. It did pretty magical things for my guitar tone considering the piece of **** amp I was using and I got to try it out on a friends halfstack later and it shone brighter than his £200 blackstar pedal. But a few months ago I tried it out on bass and it sure does pack a punch. It probably loses a tiny bit of bass from your tone but not too much, if I get a chance mid song I might roll the bass up (active bass) but that tiny bit of bass reduction is worth the unholy powerful punch that this pedal packs. Like a lightning bolt, could do subtle as well as unsubtle. I'd recommend it to anyone who wants either a wall of distortion or a little bit of bite. Since I already have a b3k holding down the subtle growl I have positioned the joyo next to it so I can hit both switches together and move from growl to roar.

I might put some sound samples up sometime if I get a chance.
