Best Phaser and the differences

I love the sound of the old roland jet phase. I am not sure what to buy and what compares to it. I read about step and non step phasers and I am little confused about all that. Is there a Jet copy out there or something similar?

Step phasing is an effect that few phasers have where the phasing effect "steps" through different parts of the phase cycle in quick succession. Check out the Boss PH-3 or Digitech Hyperphase on Musician's Friend to hear a clip. It's interesting, but not a "traditional" phaser sound.

There's nothing exactly like the Roland Jet Phase on the market today. The things that make it different from most phasers are:

1) It's an eight stage phaser where most are 4. (You can do a search if you don't know what stages mean in terms of phasing)

2) It has a built in fuzz circuit

3) It has the Fast/Slow switch to get that ramping up or down effect.

You can get somewhat close to the Jet Phase tone with a 6, 10 or 12 stage phaser and a separate fuzz. I've used the Moog Phaser and the Maxon PH-350 with decent results.
