Someone recommended an Axon AX 100 MKII.
Is there an even better product out there that I should consider.

By "better", I mean faster tracking, and more bullet proof for playing live.

I have a older version of the Axon made by Yamaha called the G50.
I've been using it for 5 years. The tracking is excellent.
I set up a spare bass with the 13 pin pickup and put on Piccolo strings.
The tracking is killer.
Axon is the fastest out there.

Have fun,
Rick

Out of curiosity, what kind of piccolo strings and bass are you using and do you play with a pick?

I've got a 30"-scale bass I'm thinking of setting up as a piccolo, specifically for MIDI.
What scale and string guage's do you use.
The reason I'm asking is that I wonder:
Does string tension affect tracking?

Could you try an experiment for me?
See how the unit tracks with regular string tension, then detune a whole step. How does it track now?
