i want to buy a pre amp pedal for my G&L L2500, i want to run the bass in passive mode and use an out board pre amp to give it a new tone and also to run direct at times when i dont want to lug my amp around, anyway as you might know the G&L has really hot pickups, so I lowered them to chill them out a bit, and it worked great, but i am not that thrilled with the G&L pre amp, so i want to use a di box that has a pre in it, like a aguilar tone hammer or a sans amp bass driver di, which do you guys think would work best with a bass that is really loud and hot already, i play allot rock,u2'ish style stuff, and some R&B and gospel, i am all over the map musically, and i love modern tones like the stringray for example, could you guys advise me on what might be a good match for me?

I'm getting one soon. For the money I think it has the most features and uses, so that would be my recommendation.
- Lots of preamp/eq capabilities
- Clean DI
- Overdrive which is a plus compared to other "preamp only" boxes. |

They are the same - just that one is in a box with a nice DI, Tuner out, mute and bypass. |

imo the sadowsky eq is set at the exact sweet spots which is why i always use it no matter what im playing.
sorry OP i cant give u an opinion on another preamp pedal for you, cos the sadowsky is the only one i've tried and own.
but anyways im very happy with it when im playing with a band.
the eq on it slightly boosted allows it to let the bass sit well and the treble sparkle thru the mix.
