Better tracking/sounding - EH POG or Octave Multiplexer?

the POG tracks better, largely because it is digital

the XO multiplexer is smaller and true bypass - i believe it takes a 9v power adapter and that the old big one taks something else

Any truth that the XO are more prone to break than that larger size pedals?

to me both would be awfully difficult to break. barring of course instances where you might drop the pedal from three storeys or when it gets run over by a car which happens from time to time i suppose...

in fact i'd have thought that the XO cases are made of a thicker metal than the old ones.

i'm not dismissing any of these claims, but maybe some detailed descriptions and pictures to back it up would help? it would be of interest to everyone

XO POG is true bypass and it DOES take a 9v, I have it daisy chained with my 1spot.

the fullsize POG is not tb and takes a 18v or 24v current

The big one takes the same adapter type and end as a DOD, just like a lot of older EHX stuff, the one I have is true bypass. my only complaint about the Octave Multiplexer is it has a little volume drop.

Never tried the POG ( though the mircro version is appealing to me), my buddy has a Multiplexer at his house for his guitar, so I tried it out, and its pretty cool, though when I got into playing faster, the sound would kind of die on me (make a little fart type noise and reduce volume). I think its becase it only tracks one note at a time, so when two got played fast back to back they would cancel each other out or something.

I've never heard anything quite like that Micro Pog. Almost completely glitch free, and the octaves are pretty darn clean. I have one coming next week!

I have bought a bunch of good pedals over the years and they sit in a card board box as they have all been too "effectsy" for my style (other than compressors).
Never bought the octave box as they didn't use to work well.

While I see them for sale here, do most guys like them and if not, is it due to tracking and tone?

An O.B. could end my pedal virginity.

Yes but this is his 2nd octave pedal within a week

I have 5 octave pedals, and I find most octaves track the same if analog,
they just has their own "tone", the tracking is usually good down to A on the E string on most basses, sometimes you can push to G, but if you play with in the limitations you can get some great sounds with any of them really.

Digital can go further on the tracking end but they don't sound the same, and you find out very quick which type of sound you dig.

I personally don't have a octave on my live board because at this time I'm not doing any songs where it is critical to have one and I'm trying to to keep my setup to small.

Bass > Tuner > Fuzz > Fuzz > Wah > OD > Tremolo > Phase > Comp > amp

I've been playing for over 30 years and I too like a simple set up.
Bass > Amp

Prefer to use the opening bands amp and cable if it's decent
If it's an SVT, that's bonus points!
