Big Mad Professor news (Musikmesse)

Apparently the MP version of the Blueberry has officially been announced at Musikmesse along with a bass specific version of the Snow White auto-wah. No pictures yet but I'll be looking.

As an owner of the current SWAW, I'm particularly interested in how the bass version differs from the current version.

Thanks!

* Mad Professor about the prototype:

SWAH that is tuned one octave lower for bass. The triggers are also set lower to fit bass range. Very user friendly, super funky with solid heavy bass.
And here's pic of the Mad Professor Bass OD prototype. I assume the production model will more closely resemble the rest of their line.

Oh yeah Mad Prof. also have a 'Ruby Red Booster' coming.

Also these guys from Musikmesse look interesting:

A Compressore clone?

BTW, I'm finding this stuff here: http://www.effectsdatabase.com/events/musikmesse/2010

More Mad Prof. news from Disco Freq.

Mad Professor will release cheaper (mass produced) versions of their pedal range. They had an example of the Sweet Honey Overdrive, but it was stolen (this was discovered when they wanted to show it to me and couldn't find it...)

The "DV Mark" series is Markbass's new guitar-specific amp and pedal line.

The Rodenberg stuff is just boutique clones of Boss, Ibanez, etc.

Definitely looking forward to the less expensive Mad Professor effects.

The funny thing about that is that MP's pedals still cost $350. The only difference from a consumer perspective is availability, not price.

It sounds like you are referring to Mad Professor pedals vs BJFE pedals, but what we are talking about is a new line of cheaper Mad Professor pedals that is not out yet.

And that MP's pedals are easier to trace out.

Unless Bongo can get that thing figured out, it's going to take someone who already owns a Blueberry to buy one of the MP models to see if they match up tone-wise. There's not much way to know if they're using the same components with the way the Blueberry is made.

It's impossible that they will sound the same because how else will the Blueberry retain it's value (or even go up in value).

For me, it's all about close enough and then I'll tweak to my specific taste.

Resale value probably doesn't mean much to Bjorn If the Blueberry is truly retired, he won't gain anything by keeping it a unique design. Making the same design more readily-available in the MP line would be way more beneficial as it would sate the consumer's want of Blueberrys- it wouldn't benefit them to make a different-sounding pedal. But who knows- maybe the Blueberry took some special fairy dust that he's run out of.

I'll take it on. I'm keen to see how they compare, for sure.

The Mad Professor version of the Blueberry will definitely be different. They have already stated that it will have more available gain. I'm not sure of any other differences.

It's the "other differences" I'm worried about. I've been trying to get a Blueberry to try out for forever- I wouldn't want to get one of these and have it not do the cranked tube amp thing that most say the Blueberry really nails.

Nice. Regular SWAW has got very nice voice, useable range on bass is pretty limited though.
