Big Muff ... build or mod?

Sign in to disble this ad
Should I build a GGG tuned Big Muff kit or should I mod a Russian one? They would probably cost about the same. Modding a Russian version would be less work. But I'll go with which ever sounds better. I'm looking for a backup to my MXR Blowtorch. Something that won't stay on my board but will be around in case I need a backup fuzz. I want all the low end I can get, I saw somewhere a mod for a mid control knob, and of course better parts and true bypass. I figure this do until I get a Bluebeard.

build the bluebeard.

GGG tuned muff all the way (it IS the bluebeard fuzz).

Unless you have a russian muff already then just mod it into a Bluebeard using the Schematic for the GGG Tuned muff.

Problem solved.

I would say build the GGG tuned Big Muff. It's more work, but I think you end up with a better pedal. I've built one myself, and I love it. JD is great to deal with, and sells high quality parts. The nice thing about the kit is the small size as compared to the Russian BM.

+100

The GGG tuned is a very nice muff variant, and it is a fun build.
