Big Muff diodes

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey, I'm finally getting around to building me a muff and I've already got 2 silicon fuzzes so I want to use germanium diodes, but the only ones I can get hold of are 1N34A but I can't find any info on them, does anyone know if they're suitable to use in a muff, and if not, any reccomendations on other germaniums diodes?

They will work, but they won't make the Big Muff sound like a fuzz with germanium transistors.

They'll smooth out the tone and reduce the gain. I would only suggest throwing them in the 1st loop.
rcubed usually suggests trying no diodes in the 1st loop.
I would keep the second set of diodes as siliconzzzzzz. Trust me.

+1 no point putting germanium diodes in really, the muffs already really compressed

if you really want to try out germanium diodes i'd recomend putting them in a rat / dod250 type circuit
