Big Muff feedback

Sign in to disble this ad
So I am using a Bass Big Muff - is there some trick to this pedal or any fuzz/distortion box so it doesn't feedback the minute I kick it on before I start playing? Once I play it's fine but before and after it starts to feedback. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Turn down the sustain, your bass' volume, buy a noise gate, or mod it for the noise gate mod.

Mine feeds back when im using an active bass. I find that its normally because the tone and/or the sustain knobs are too high (i find its usually the sustain). Two things you can do.

1. Play around with the tone and sustain settings (Although i find this loses alot of the distortion)

2. Just place your hand flat on the strings above the pickup when not playing. Mutes it nicely.

yeah, i tend to keep the sustain and tone up all the way, as it does lose the nice fuzzy buzz turned down - i do try mute it with my palm as best i can but would like to find a balance. guess i just need to turn down the levels.

If you are using a Big Muff and you don't want feedback you are doing it wrong.

yeah. If you want to have those high settings your gonna have to get a noise gate. I have the Boss one, but it does do some minor tone suck.

I actually use the feedback. I can turn to my amp and play without picking the strings and it almost sounds like a cello.
