Big Muff Pi - No Bypass

My son has a Electro-Harmonix XO Bass Big Muff Pi and it does not bypass. Should I just try putting in a new DPDT switch? Can I use one from Radio Shack or does it need something special?

Turn the switch on and off rapidly for about 12-15 times, see if that works.

Get a 3pdt stomp switch and make it a true bypass by following this diagram:
