Big Muff putting out a clean signal

Sign in to disble this ad
I need immediate attention, please help me. Basically I have a older and beat-up muff that I have modded very heavily. The other day I returned it to stock. Now all I get out of it is a clean signal. Could someone help me out here? I need it for a show.

You likely wired up the switch wrong such that it switches between the same signal. Do the knobs have any effect on the sound?

never changed the switch. Volume and Sustain are like a two part volume and tone still works

Then what did you do to it?

changed many resistors, caps, diodes and transistors. Now it's stock.

You probably shorted something out causing a bypass of the clipping stages.

well thats the thing: I have tried many different diodes and transistors and still nothing. Possibly a resistor?

So tell us what happens when you change the pot/knob positions...

I already did: Tone still works and Sustain and Volume work as two volumes, minus the clipping

i know...sometimes if a resistor is too small that goes to ground, the tone knob reduces volume as you dime it...or the sustain does weird things. Check your resistor values...it's easy to mess up the colors...

is there a big loss of volume? sounds like you've got a resistor wrong somewhere if its staying clean. or its shorting to the ground at some point
