Is there anything that sounds like a big muff that uses a normal 9 volt power supply? tried a big muff and liked it but when I found out that I would need an extra power supply I was a little put off

There are a million Big Muff derivatives out there, some tweaked specifically to sound best with bass- one of the favorites on this board these days is the Fuzzrocious Grey Stache, which is built by a Talkbass member and frequent Effects forum contributer.

The other very simple solution is to simply purchase an adaptor for about $2.50 that will allow you to use the 1/8" power input from older Electro-Harmonix pedals with a "standard" Boss-style 9 volt power source. Ask for a "1-Spot 1/8" adaptor" at somewhere like a Guitar Center, or a multitude of other shops...That is unless you are talking about one of the newer Big Muff pedals that takes something other than 9 volts (I know there is at least one that does, but most Big Muffs are still 9 volts).

Only the old Muffs are battery only. Any modern one can be powered by a standard 9v adaptor, check out the Bass Big Muff, or any of the hundreds of boutique clones available (such as the Wren & Cuff Tri Pie 70 I currently have my eye on).

You might also check out stompunderfoot.com. Matt builds (IMHO) some of the best Muff clones out there.

I've got one of his 1973 Ram's Heads and it's fantastic. It's more of a guitar pedal, though. For bass, his Civil War looks great. My $.02.

1-Spot has a battery-snap adapter that can be used here.

Anyone have any info on this pedal in a bass application?

On topic, a GGG BMP kit can duplicate all the variations of the EHX Muff pedals.
