of all the big muff type pedals out there which ones work well with bass. I know that ehx makes a bass version. and also consider I have a blend pedal so I can use that if the pedal doesent have one.
also I'm looking at what's out now and not something vintage or discontinued

Here's a quick and dirty breakdown... Current versions: NYC Reissue - Fuzzy, loud, not a lot of tonality. Mega huge box. Little Big Muff - Ballsier than the NYC. Small box. Keeps more lows than the NYC, but pretty buzzy. Bass Big Muff - Based on the older green Sovtek. Has a blend. Keep the lows, less gain than NYC and LBM. Tone Wicker - Probably not the best bass pedal. Let's you bypass the tone or get a 'raspy' tone. Ebay: Ram's Head - High gain. Mids are pretty scooped. Violet Ram's Head - More mids, less gain than Ram's Head. Triangle - Heavy. Fuzzy. Scooooooped mids. Green Sovtek - Big box. Less gain and more bass friendly. Black Russian Reissue - Muddy. Less gain. Sort of bass friendly if you like muffled mud. Clones/replicas:
Out the wazoo...Too many to get into... |

-Sanford and Sonny Bluebeard Fuzz
-Earthbound Audio Supercollider
-Way Huge Swollen Pickle
-Wren and Cuff Pickle Pie (B)
Heard good things about but haven't tried:
-Earthquaker Devices: Hoof
-GGG Muff Clone

| | | | Just get the new bass one. Honestly it's the best big muff for bass by absolute miles.
The toggle switch makes it a very versatile pedal as well. Pesonally I love the "dry" option. It splits the signal into clean and fuzzy even if you're going through the same amp. |

The Fuzzrocious Green Stache is a good estimation of a Bluebeard from all i have heard, it is easier to get hold of and looks better too, if i hadnt found a bluebeard when i did i'd be rockin' a 'stache right now |

It's actually not a secret, just a non-talked about pedal on TB. http://blackouteffectors.com/site/?page_id=6 |

I've always wanted to try a white russian though.... |

I've always wanted to try a white russian though.... | I was just listening to sound clips of the catalyst fuzz tonight. I want one so bad. Does it sound as good in person as the clips? I need to pull out my Chaos Cube and start playing around with that some more. |

hmm i did some noise rock jamming the other weekend with my new AKG mic, i might be looking to sell mine soon so ill keep you in mind
This is with the bass a little off maxed, mid's at about 9-o'clock (1/4 power) trebz up at about 3/4 to give it some sizzle and the intensity at an even 12
i use the carbon copy, whammy, wah at the end as well as an electric razor/massage toy http://www.soundclick.com/bands/page...songID=7386092
but one of its many possible settings. |
