BJF Blueberry's "In Stock"

Sign in to disble this ad
Not sure if this should go here or in "Deals" (even though it is not deal), but just saw on the BJFE.org site that Custom-Sounds has the Blueberry IN STOCK!

Not associated with the retailer. Thought I'd post because many are looking. Here's the link: http://www.custom-sounds.com/epages/...Products/12012

Remember price includes VAT which U.S. buyers don't pay.

This happens occasionally. It means there were enough orders for Bjorn to make a batch and then either he made extras (10 pedals when 8 were ordered) or somebody later decided they didn't want/couldn't afford one.

Even without the VAT, the current exchange rate makes the BBBOD about a $360 pedal new. And even with that price tag, there's a part of me that wants to buy another one.

Although I haven't tried a couple of the new OD's out there, this one is still the best I've had....amazing pedal.

I know... I've been thinking hard about buying this one too, but the rational part of my brain tells me that it would not be prudent until later in Jan 2010.

Jared, if you end up with it, I'd like to visit sometime and check it out.

If it's still available in a couple of weeks, I'm all over it.

And you'd be more than welcome any time. But I can't bring myself to pull the trigger. I already dumped a bunch of cash on a phaser after I said I was done spending money on gear for the next couple months.

The Blueberry is a fantastic pedal. It can do just a touch of grit as well as any pedal I've owned, but it's that big, fat, huge sounding "power tubes being cranked" tone that makes it so special. It's not even a sound I currently need and I still want another Blueberry because it's such a great tone.

I still would love to spend a few minutes with a blue berry. Just to find out.

BJFE pedals are Tha Shiznit. I think it is dumb when they get over $400 though. But, they usually don't, unless you get someone trying to make a living flipping houses I mean pedals in CA I mean TGP.

My second run with a Blue Berry is going to be different this time. I had previously complained about lack of treble, but since I sold the first one, I've eliminated tweeters and treble-boosting from my life. So I think we'll get along better. If not, well then I'll just sell it for a healthy profit what I paid.

Do you think the 3BOD would be redundant given my current signal chain: bass>Xotic Bass BB preamp>C-bread SFT>MP SWAW>Small Stone Nano>Mesa M-Pulse 600>Cab?

I haven't tried the SFT so I couldn't say for sure, but the clips make it sound much more colored and "Ampeg-y" than the Blueberry. It certainly could sit side by side with the Xotic with no issues. The BB Preamp is basically a bass tuned Tube Screamer with some improvements so it has a very different tone than the Bluberry - much more midfocused and not nearly as dark or heavy.

I don't think the Blue Berry is redundant in anybody's setup unless they already have an old tube amp they crank every day.

Jared, nad... Custom-Sounds thanks you both.

I guess I'm going to have to give it a try come January.

Not so sure my wife thanks you though... good thing these things are small!

The blueberry is cool but it's simply not worth anywhere near $440 USD.
Thanks for the heads up though.

That's a pretty good observation there, and you're absolutely right. I guess that's why they're listed for about $360 USD (also way too much )

Especially when the highest the sell for on here is $315 shipped and PP'd. It's a hell of a pedal, but yes, $340 + a long wait from overseas shipping is too much...

I purchased one from this batch a few weeks ago, after waiting nearly 6 months from my initial request with Custom Sounds; they advised that BJF only makes a batch of these every couple of years or so, and only then when they have enough committments to buy most of them. It shipped from Finland to Virginia in less than a week so not as long a shipping time as you might think.

If you are like me and like to buy things like this new, best to pick one up now, otherwise you could be waiting a while.

i'll stick with the vt and british character pedals, although i have heard clips of the blueberry that make me feel a bit wet and messy down there. just not wet and messy enough to drop $350. my main bass didn't even cost that much!
