I had a VT2 and reviewed it on here, check out the clips if you haven't already. Great pedal, but it is quite bulky and needs a separate 12v supply. Blueberry is small and 9v, but is really hard to get hold of - good luck finding one! I can't really compare as I've never used a Blueberry, and there's not going to be many people out there who have experience with both, they're pretty uncommon pedals.

Also, DHA is making a new pedal with active EQ, check out the paint job on this bad boy:

I have both a VT1 and a Blueberry, and have listened to them side by side. The VT1 sounds like a fat tube preamp (because it is one), but does not sound like an all-tube amp being cranked. It can go from clean to mildly driven. The Blueberry is the best emulation I've heard of an all-tube amp being cranked. It cannot do clean, it goes from moderate drive to grindy grunt.

This new one which is called a VT1-EQ-Bass-Drive is a VT1 with Active EQ and mid Q control plus an XLR balanced DI out.

I've never heard of Dave Hall before this, but after a quick skim of the website I'd have to say that I'm interested in the whole product line. There's only a handful of reviews online. Lets hear some more....

We've had quite a few posts about them here in this forum, have you checked those out yet? I've also got a review of his compressor in the reviews page linked in my sig.

Yes, we are almost unknown in the US with only around 25 pedals over there at moment. But, that's all about to change as the DHA-USA is about to pull the trigger.

They will be offering a full range of our pedals in the US with our racks and amps to follow soon after. A batch of samples should be arriving with them today so they can start the marketing and complete their website, soundclips, pictures, etc.

Dave

I run mine with a 9V brick. I had to find a suitable Line 6 size plug and make it reverse polarity first though.

Hhhmm I have the Supa Charger and some line 6 cables, my VHT Valvulator has a 12VDC Regulated DC but it won't turn on when hooked up to that.
I'll have to do some reading tomorrow I guess.

DHA pedals can safely be plugged in at reverse polarity but they won't fire up so that's what's probably at fault there. If run at 9v instead of 12v they're supposed to sound 'thinner', but I've not tried it myself.

Blueberry versus DHA VT2 or both

This original thread is exactly what I had planned to post...so I might as well bump for visibility and recent reviews...thanks!

To kind of expand on my first earlier post here, I'd ask you what sort of tone you are trying to get. They each will excel at different things.

I've just spent the last hour reading all the threads on the power amp OD versus preamp OD, it's truth and consequences time...a must read and highly recommended using the search here for good posts on this subject since there are a few of them.
But the tone I'm looking for is Jack Bruce(Cream era)/Felix Pappalardi (Mountain) tone in a pedal or as close as you can get with a pedal using a Fender bass (rather than a Gibson) with a SS amp. This may not be possible with a 12AX7 pedal, preamp or any of the ODs out there but I gotta try...oh well GAS here it comes

DHA finally on the way

Found a DHA Dual Bass on ebay and should have it within a week (although may have to select different tubes for it, I'm thinking NOS Mullards)

...and I can finally do shootout between this and the Blueberry

Cool! My early bet is that the Blueberry is better for Pappalardi and Bruce tones if your speaker cab has a tweeter (and you use it), but if you play through something like 15's with no tweeter, the DHA may be a strong contender.

I have a VT1 and I will definitely say it does very fat mild overdrive tube amp sounds.

If you don't quite get what you want from the pedals in the way of Jack/Felix tone, check out the bass channel on this amp:

http://www.proguitarshop.com/product...25&CategoryID=

Instant Cream tone, right there.
