Arrow Blackbox X-Ray Bass Overdrive...

Sign in to disble this ad
So i was looking through pedalgeek.com and came across this pedal by Blackbox called the x-ray. I tried a search on TB but nothing came up for the pedal and I've definately never seen one on anyones pedal board before.

Heres a pic of (the one on right is for bass, obviously)

Blackbox X-Ray:
The x-ray is a full range clean boost/overdrive/distortion designed for guitar. The X-Ray Bass is almost identical to the X-Ray and is even further optimized for use with bass guitar. The x-ray does not bleed off low frequencies so it can be used with a wide variety of instruments and signal sources with good results. The x-ray is very responsive to your picking strength as well as the volume knob on your instrument. When distorting, the x-ray clips your signal asymmetrically (much like the amplification stages on a tube amp when overdriven), resulting in a much warmer tone.

Controls:
  • More - Controls both distortion and clean boost gain. With the shape knob completely counter-clockwise, the x-ray provides "more" distortion. Completely clockwise provides completely clean boost/overdrive. The mix of overdrive/distortion varies in between the two extremes.
  • Louder - Controls the output volume
  • Drive - Controls the amount of post boost/distortion gain. For a clean boost, set it between 9:00 & 12:00. When the drive knob is set towards its maximum, it begins to squash the signal before finally distorting.

Anyone ever heard of this or used this pedal before?....I'm very interested in it, especially since its so compact

Haven't seen anything on it, but don't be scared to buy it and make a review.

I've had one. I wasn't very impressed with it as it was not what I was looking for at the time. Kind of fuzzy and farty if I remember correctly. Your mileage may vary.

a friend of mine has one. he likes it but I dont
very compressed and farty sound
couldn't get anything that didn't sounded like the amp is going to explode any minute
plus it's build very bad from cheap components, the switch started to have problems after two weeks he had the pedal and he had to replace it
it also has unwanted noise while on.
****** pedal!
