Blender Pedals Dumbified

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi...first of all a meek apology if this has often been covered on tb, I did search, couldnt find an answer

anyways... (brave face)

What I'm looking into is getting a pedal for my big muff that'll send some sound into the muff, and some bypassed clean to my amp. I"ve seen big raves about the Boss LS-2, and it sounds like it can do blending...but i'm not sure if it'd work for what I'm after.

The problem my little mind seems to note is that you can split the signal..but then you got one cord going into the muff, and one heading for the amp...I only want one cord going into my amp again...how does that work??

Thanks

Barge Concepts VFB-2 or VB-jr.

The answer is that blender-loop pedals have two inputs and two outputs. One input comes from your bass. Then the first output goes to your effects, and their output goes back into the second input on the blender. Then the second output of the blender is what goes to your amp. So the signal takes a detour through the full-circle loop of the blender, but it's still just one cord from your bass and one cord to your amp.

Just a note on the LS-2. I think it's a fantastically useful stompbox and it can do blending (to do this select a mix of loop A and loop B but only put pedals in one of those two loops), but if you are buying it solely for this purpose, then I'd recommend getting a VFB-jr from Barge Concepts instead. It does a better job in this regard.

I still have my LS-2, but I use it for a couple other purposes.
