Blender/s!

Sign in to disble this ad
so, for my project on my engineering college course i was planning on doing a blend pedal. I have a pretty solid idea on how im going to go about this, including a mute, wet/dry blend and bypass. Before i go into this, I have several questions on my mind;

How difficult/complex is the circuitary in a blend pedal, as i plan on doing all of this myself. I know it's going to be a complex build, but i think i have all that covered, just not too sure on the style of circuitary that will be needed at the moment. As i only really have experience with op-amps.

Can i see some inside shots? I've seen the Xotic layout diagram, but nothing more!
http://www.prosoundcommunications.co...cts/x_blender/

I'm assuming ill need a dry volume switch, before the mix of the two?

Is a EQ vital to the Wet signal, after the return, but beofre the blend? I wouldn't think so...:\

Is a volume needed after the blend? It's just there on the Xotic blender just because they can right?

Whats about the phase? what will need doing here? this is the only place im stumped...

Where can i get some housings from off the internet, UK based. Am i crazy for thinking/wanting ill be able to fit it in a EHX XO series housing?

I just want/need? clarifying on a certain few points! any other points/opinions etc would be great too
Thanks all,

One, have you ever seen the Barge Concepts VFB-2?

www.bargeconcepts.com

It's an extremely popular blend loop pedal around here, and it fits in an EHX XO-series size housing, just like the Xotic X-Blender.

In fact, the circuit itself is far simpler; I owned one, and the circuit doesn't take up that much space inside at all. In fact, the blend section could easily fit in an even smaller enclosure, which is what Barge Concepts is currently working on with their VB-Jr.

The Xotic is complex only because it's designed to do so much more.

yeah i have seen the VFB-2. Although i thought it was bigger than the XO series size. :/ nevermind
It's a shame that there is only 3 well known blender pedals, which are the VFB-2, X-Blender and Bob the Blender as they are a must on most, if not all boards in my eyes!

Thanks for the info, it makes me feel so much better

Also, it'd be worthless(and a waste of what seems to be alot more work) having two inputs, for pedals that have a dry and wet out like the Whammy. It'd just be the same as having it 1st in the loop, right?
yes im well aware the above question seems like a stupid question!

I made my own blender a while back, here is the thread about it: Passive Mixers

I actually, finally got it all worked out today. I had been having problems with it for a while, but it is perfect now.

read my last final post in the thread for the skinny on what I actually ended up doing that worked for me.

although I had some problems with it, if you have a concise schematic, it isn't very complicated comparatively. my problems were because the schematic wasn't perfect for what I wanted to do
