Blue Boy Deluxe? Other options?

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi all,

I'm after a new Overdrive.
I had a Tubeworks Blue tube - but it blew up in my face last night I should have had the lights turned off, cos it was quite spectacular.
......and I need a replacement for a gig this thursday.
SO!

I'm not after anything too expensive - but something destined to be a keeper.

Any love for the MI Audio Blue Boy Deluxe?
How does it do for retaining the low end?
Will it give a nice transparent subtle amount of grit, as well as a pleasant buzzy OD without killing the lows?
(please bear in mind I use downtuned 4 bangers with ported 15's)

Is there any other's I should have a look at?
(that don't cost a third leg and both testicles)
BTW - I'm in 'straya.

Ta fella's, smo

The MI Audio Blue Boy Deluxe is a good pedal, very flexible. I liked the one I had a lot.

Ta Toasted.
So it was good for bottom end? What was the reason you "un-had" it?

I've had the BB deluxe for some time now. I really like it. It works great for both low gain overdrive and higher gain drive. I do notice a slight loss in the very low end, but live, it's negligible. I'd highly recommend that pedal.

I'll chime in about the BB deluxe as well. It is a very nice pedal, can get nice and dirty with a good "wool" to it. The character knob allows you to dial in as much low end as you want, even to excess.

Ah yes, a good point about the character knob. I just never use it myself as it also adds more wooliness to the lows.

I was at Uni and needed money. I'd be very happy to have another

Humm, I have one and haven't tried it on bass yet...gonna have try that out tomorrow. Anyway, it's a great and versatile OD pedal. Will never sell it, that's for sure.

Pork Loin?

Okay - tried it out - pretty cool pedal. Unfortunately, I only had time to try it with a 4x10, so whether the super lows are cut or not, I'm not sure - but it did sound pretty good to me.

BUT - I've seen a review of the Way Huge Pork Loin.
Are they any good on bass?
