I am on the market for a fuzz pedal, and I have run across the Bluebeard. However, I am a bit confused about what everything means. There is lots of talk about them, but I can't seem to make much sense of it. Could someone please explain the different types of Bluebeard kits? Also, what Bluebeard pedal is best suited for bass? I need a Bluebeard crash course.

GGG is involved with building a pedal by Sandford and Sonny called the Blue Beard bass distortion. This "Tuned Version" is somewhat simialr to the Blue Beard, but it is not a Blue Beard. It sounds somewhat different and it is in a smaller box of course. This is an excellent distortion for bass or guitar or synth, but this project should not be considered a kit for a Blue Beard pedal. |

It is a nice bass friendly muff variation.
But I’m not a muff fan. To me the muff and variations is the generic “I have fuzz” pedal.
I have a ton of different fuzzes, each sounds differently, and each has its uses.
There are bunches of different Youtube videos and of course Bassfuzz.com http://bassfuzz.com/
Check them out and find what best fits your sound.

The difference b/w the BB and GGG is not as drastic as the difference b/w a Green Russian version and a GGG.
If you want the pedal "now" and will settle for something close, then get a GGG-tuned version. If you want to wait a year or more, order from Sonny via MySpace. Your third option is to wait until someone sells one on the Classifieds here or one ends up on eBay. |
