Ok, so i went to pick up my pedal i bought off ebay. Got it home and plugged it in. i used a travel adapter to convert the American plug to European. Switched the unit on, it flashed on and then off... At that moment my heart sank when i realised what a t*at i've just been. The adapter for the zoom i have is an american adapter rated at what voltage...oh thats right 120v , and what voltage do we have in Europe, yup thats right 240v!!
Can't believe what an idiot i've been.
So i tried sticking fresh batteries into the device and switching it on. all that happend is the EDIT l.e.d flashes on and off constantly.
Have i just fried my B2??

After talking to some folks on an electronics forum,i was told that the problem may only come down to one blown, but easily changed component. I need to do a few test with a multimeter tomorrow to find out.

The B2 is an multieffects pedal made by Zoom.

All seems to be fine readings wise. i also just tried doing the factory reset procedure (turning the unit on and at the same time pressing the STORE button), and it worked. But still not getting anything else apart from the edit flashing LED when the unit is switched on normally. So i guess i may have fried the microchip, although its strange that none of the other components (that im aware of) have been affected.
If anyone can offer any input or suggestions , all appreciated.

Oh, and Im just wondering if your power is 50Hz, or 60. A semi-retired teacher told me a story about how they kept burning out the starter coils on moters in Yemen. The centrifugal (iirc) switch wouldn't open cus the starter coil would never see more than 80% of full rated current or something. I honestly don't know if that makes a diff or not in this case. |

Usually the DC side of the circuit has a regulator IC which will attempt to restrict it's output to the designed voltage no matter what voltage appears at it's input.
More likely is that you just blow the mains fuse in the adapter, or fry a component like a resistor that was designed for the lower input voltage.
50 vs 60hz may cause the transformer to run hot, but many adapters are universal these days.
Contact Zoom and ask them what the flashing edit LED means - that's the best way, surely?
