I'm working on my latest touring/recording pedalboard. After years of contracting/expanding board sizes and pedal choices I've narrowed down what will be my "primary" go-to units. I've found a form factor that I feel will meet
my needs best (ruggedness, reliability, size, construction):

I've routed the power supplies under the solid board platform w/ only a couple of holes for the power leads to emerge. I also have my in/out patchbay mounted on the rear lip of the board with small holes on the platform for the George L's cable to pop up through. The myriad of George L's cabling running from pedal-to-pedal, and routed to my switcher, are currently laying on top of the platform between the pedals. It doesn't look
bad this way (all cabling is black & the board itself is black), but I'm considering peppering the board with holes & running all of the cabling beneath the board as well.
I was wondering about your thoughts & experiences regarding both routing methods. Now, I understand that Pedaltrain users are going to favor an "under-board" approach- but my setup will be quite a bit different as were talking about very small holes to accommodate the George L's cabling (not big enough for the actual
plugs to fit through).
Running under the board limits any potential diagnostic & routing changes (although both are unlikely, my setup is pretty solid now). Running above the board looks less clean, but also keeps my audio a little further from the power components (I'm a freak about noise!).
