So, I'm starting a new board build, and was wondering...
Should I go for a "Pedaltrain" style board, or a semi-tiered design? Pros vs. cons? Measurements will be 17'' x 12''.
Apparently, when it comes to velcro, the norm seems to be to have the hook side on the pedals, with the loop (fuzzy) side on the board. Any particular reasons for this, or is it just down to taste?
Finally, which flanger would you recommend, Boss BF-3 or MXR M152 (micro flanger)?
Thanks!

Thanks! | I'd get a Pedaltrain PT-jr. I personally don't like tiered setups -it means lifting my foot higher than I want to while trying to play. And I haven't seen enough of an advantage to make me want one.
I put my velcro in that fashion. Mostly because then pedals stick less to the carpet as I take them off to rearrange things.
Of the two I like the MXR more. But I like the BF-2 better than both. And as a more expensive option I really liked the Maxon FL-9. |

All opinions welcomed!

I own both.
Pedal train is the way to go. |

All opinions welcomed! | My advice would still be to build a "Pedaltrain-style" board. Or is there some reason you want a tiered setup?
At the end of the day you need what works for you. |

The idea behind a tiered set-up would be for increased stability (no rickety/overly flexible pieces of wood) and putting the power supply on the board in stead of mounting it on the underside.

| | | | Both work great, Ive used both but am now using a pedatrain pt-jr. I built the first tiered one and that sucker was heavy. Never could get used to the step up and missed alot of times trying to turn on certain pedals.... like it was said above, you could easily build the pedaltrain board and customize it so the power is on top etc...

With a little imagination you can add some risers and add a power supply underneath. There's some more different dimension boards on their site. You can thank me later by buying me a pedal with the money you have left over.

I didn't have too much a problem with the riser though. |

I built this board for under $50. Its a little heavy, but definitely solid. It also has a removable lid that latches onto it to cover the whole thing up. Looks like a big suitcase when its closed. Powers 9 pedals with my one-spot. This is not my current pedal set-up, or Id post it in the pedalboard thread.
