Where I am today:
Pedaltrain Mini (w. One Spot power supply):
- TCE PolyTune
- MXR M82 Bass Envelope Filter
- MXR M97 Bass Compressor
- SansAmp BDDI
I'd thought about getting the MXR Bass Octave Deluxe (gets some funky sounds when paired with the BEF), but instead punted and got a $100 Bass Synth Wah. Which left me wanting to sell the M82...
Now that the tax man is bringing me a refund, suddenly everything seems different. Here's what I'm thinking now.
Pedaltrain 2:
- TCE PolyTune
- SourceAudio Bass Envelope Filter PRO
- MXR M97 Bass Compressor
- SansAmp BDDI
I don't know if I'd keep the Synth Wah. Possibly not. Definitely I'd get rid of the MXR Envelope Filter.
I wonder if it's worth it to get a Hot Hand for the BEF Pro. All the way cool dubstep demos seem to use it in conduction with other effects like the Multiwave Distortion...
Also, I've even got half a mind to sell the SansAmp and get the Aguilar Tone Hammer just for it's non-scoopy mids. |

Filters really shine with fuzz in front of them, which the MWBD can do and more.
You'd got a long way making trip hop with those two.
An expression pedal would be very worthwhile too.

I use mine for the lfo synced to the midi clock of my Eventide Space for electronic sounds, as a phaser, a static LPF, EQ and a bass wah with the expression out, not to mention the standard envelope filter sounds. It can do a lot. |

BINGA BINGA BING BING BOP. | | Join Date: Jun 2011 Location: Waukesha, Wisconsin | | The more I listen to the youtube demos, the more I think I need the Source Audio multi wave distortion even more than their envelope filter. That thing is amazing. Everything from fuzz to synth.
Of course, maybe I could get both
That would put me thus:
- TCE PolyTune
- Source Audio Multiwave Bass Distortion Pro
- Source Audio Bass Envelope Filter Pro
- MXR M87 Bass Compressor
- SansAmp BDDI
Presuming I sell the Bass Synth Wah and the MXR envelope filter.
But, dang. That's $440 worth of pedals there. Not even counting another bill for a bigger board and yet another one for a Hot Hand. AND presuming I stick with the SansAmp and don't change it out for the Tone Hammer.
Granted, I could get around $300 back from sale of the Bass Synth Wah ($50) + MXR EF ($100) + Pedaltrain Mini ($50) + SansAmp BDDI ($100). But still.
That's around $650 ... minus $300...
Well, it might work out. And if it does, I'll have the sickest pedal board on the face of the earth. |

Let's see your board!
I suppose you're right, though. It'll still be a pretty minimalistic board compared to some. But it'll have some of the hottest new pedals on it, anyway. |

IE Polytope for your chorus needs.
FEA Dual Band Distortion for your low gain drive through full on distortion.
[sfx] Big Beautiful Bass for your preamp needs.
EHX Micro POG for your octave needs.
Markbass Bass Flanger, because everyone needs a flanger.
Infanem Faye Sing for the fantastic phaser.

I don't think anyone has the best, as long as they are happy. Some boards do make me think, WOW, I could rock that!
Listen to Caeman about the Faye Sing. It is amazing! |

First off, it was your money in the first place. Second, if you would have had it during the year, you would have spent it on pedals. Thus, you are merely catching up to what you WOULD have done last year.

We'll see in a week or so whether I have the stomach to also go in for their Pro Envelope Filter and a Hot Hand controller. |

Scott, since you are considering the synth by pedals route, a Markbass SuperSynth and the BEFPro would get you so much more of a really usable sound, I think.
That's like $470 right there. The SuperSynth also has a stand alone octave. The BEFPro also for your regular filter needs and a passable Phaser. Get your board, then you have money leftover for a great OD and Fuzz. |
