OK... Here's my current board, I think some of it could go and not be missed:
Certainly the G5 is going. It's just not gnarly enough for me, which is a shame because the tracking is a ****ing godsend, but it's definitely going. Perhaps the BMS is going too - the Meatwad and loop options including the OC-2, LS-2, Pulse Synth and Pickle Pie B are really sweet, and the triggering on the BMS has started to irritate me.
So yeah, those two big spaces may be due for repopulation. And that's where I need your help.
A programmable filter would be massively useful. I've found tonnes of uses for the Meatwad but live it's not that practical to switch settings, so I'm thinking the Octavius Squeezer could be a good addition. Is it reliable as a live unit?
I'm also thinking of swapping out the Pickle Pie for a gated fuzz, because it needs a gate anyway (too much hiss on my favourite settings), so are there any preferences over the Mammoth? The Squeezer's already got the Brown Dog circuit in it, but I'm thinking another fuzz might be useful depending on where the Squeezer goes (if I end up owning one).
Finally: Some sort of tap-tempo modulation would be really nice. I was looking at the EHX Flanger Hoax but that's really a studio tool IMO and I don't want to end up in the same situation I'm in with the Meatwad where I love the sound but I can't get my ten favourite sounds out of it on stage, I'd prefer something I can tie to a beat easily live.
So those are the spaces on my board. Budget irrelevant - what would you do? |

I'm a little bit concerned it sounds too clean, and I doubt I'll find anywhere around here to demo one (which I'd want to do) but that's a great idea - thanks! |

It will still track flawlessly. (you may want some gated dirt, it will also track some high gain artifacts pretty well ) |

That will give you some nice tap tremolo, plus it has a setting where you can do volume swells (nice in a synthy setup). It's big, but you'll have the space if you ditch G5 and BMS. I don't know what the power situation is on it, though. |

I did have a delay on my board for a few months but it never got switched on, didn't really find a use for it. I still look at delays a lot but can't seem to find one that I want.
I really shouldn't be building up such bad GAS this close to christmas. Everybody's going to get coal from me this year. |

+1 hog and squeezer- as thatd replace the bms- g5- and boss octaver. however- if you get the hog- i guarantee you will buy the footswitch- so keep that massive footprint in mind.
meatwad- ive also taken to using it as a foot-controlled wah- for which it is amazing- but that plus a a foot controller- while very tweakable- is a gigantic wah.
i also like an eq pedal in front of everything- can switch it on for a bit of trebley bite that helps synths and envelope filters to respond better. Quote:

I need to find somewhere to demo a HOG, really. I'm not totally sold on the idea and the thing's huge. I'm sure it does a lot of cool stuff but I don't know how much of it I'd use. Maybe if the filter is excellent and I get the foot controller I might not want/need the Squeezer. Quote:

Meatwad is definitely staying! But I think I could use a programmable filter too, hence the squeezer, unless anyone knows of another programmable filter that sounds really good? I've got a contact in Oz I can order one through if that's the only option. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
