Chameleon Labs 7720 Stereo Compressor

Apparently based on the channel strip compressor of the famous SSL mixing board.

HPF on detection circuit gets my attention.

Gearslutz.com says this company has a great reputation for quality and service.

Due out on Feb 12.

Yeah, I'm sure it's nice, and I have also read many positive comments about the maker on GS. But at a probable street price of $550, it had better be "that much nicer" than other widely-available THAT or dbx based comps out there.

It would be nice though if there actually was a quality tier worth that price point. Seems like IME there's a gap between $250 and $900 where the cost doesn't equal the benefit. I've gotten several emails from people who wanted something "better" than the good-bang-per-buck units under $250, but weren't ready to shell out $900 or more.

Edit: contradicting myself, the Retrospec and CAE comps sell in that middle price gap, and IMO they're worth it. Also I happened to get a smoking deal on my ADK, which put it in that range as well.
