Bonecrushing, soul destroying fuzz

Sign in to disble this ad
I'm looking for the heaviest, most absolutely deep, bonecrushingly fuzzy fuzz I can find.

I have an EHX Bass Big Muff Pi, but I find it has just a bit too much high end crackle for my taste, no matter where I set the tune knob (or whatever it's referred to as, I can't remember off hand).

I'd like something with more overall warmth, less brittle edge to the high end, and fuzz out the wazoo... something that'll make the front row void their bowels when I turn it on.

I'm not opposed to trying to build something off GGG or BYOC either...

Any suggestions?

Bluebeard or GGG tuned muff might be akin to what you are looking for...

Not bad at all... but that's an OD, not really a Fuzz...

Alright then, lets expand the search into the OD/Dist realm too...

I'd like something fuzzy, very warm, not too much gnarly high end snarl, and yet sounds like it's going to destroy itself when I turn it on.

The Blowtorch is pretty unique, im a big fan of it, i think the bassweet is probably alot closer to what you're looking for though

Nah, not particularly. Just looking for options at the moment, I'll research more later.

Thanks for all the suggestions so far! I'll look a little deeper in the S&S Bluebeard, Bassweet, and Blowtorch.

Ohhh... I'm kinda liking the GGG BMP too. The video of the "Tuned" version sounds ok.
Might be a fun project... how difficult is the build for someone who's never done one before?

My Swollen Pickle and Attack Goat are both very BONEKRUSHING and fuzzy when set right.

The Prunes&Custard tends to be BONEKRUSHING but not as fuzzy as the others

Yes, but it's WAY more synthy than a fuzz. But when you have the mix and drive at 10...

The Blowtorch is not an OD at all- it's definitely a buzzsaw-type fuzz. Ignore the labeling.

I'd be very disappointed if I bought a P&C for bonecrushing....

... but for the all the other stuff its great!

The Tentacle Love Superfuzz is pretty harsh, and dare I say 'bonekrushing'.

B:Assmaster Silicon. This thing's got way way way more gain on tap than you should ever need, and the sensitivity is extremely sensitive.

My usual settings are fuzz level around 8:30-9:00, bass level at 12:00, and sensitivity between 8:00-12:00. If you take the fuzz level up more you can destroy worlds.
