Boost Me Up!

I'm really strapped for some clean boost alternatives for my older, passive Jazz Bass...

Has anyone tried the Visual Sound True Tone Clean Boost Pedal? Or the ModTone Clean Boost? The price range is pretty good there (not super expensive). But all the sales literature/postings are for guitars, not bass...

I'm not looking to fuzz-up the signal - it should be as uncolored as possible. It's just to get a little more output from the instrument, and also to match levels when I switch between a bass with higher output and one with lower output.

What do you think?

Probably not exactly what you want to hear, but I use a Catalinbread Super Chili Picoso for exactly the reasons you describe.

Looks very cool. The clean boost sounds right to me, but is the "Grit" boost any good for bass? Or is it better on guitar? Just curious...

I have the 'fat' switch always on.

I've also used an MXR/CAE MC-401 for the same reasons, but I kept the C/bread...mostly for the 'fat' switch...
