bootsy collins bass pedal sound samples?

Sign in to disble this ad
hello all,

Whilst reading in a musicians friend magazine that happened to be laying around in my house, this caught my eye:

http://www.musiciansfriend.com/produ...al-?sku=150555

its this bootsy collins bass wah pedal with fuzz. It looks kinda corny and toy-like, but it fits bootsy's style. I was wondering if anyone had any sound samples of what the actual pedal sounded like before I would invest a large sum of money into it. And if do have it, would you recommend even buying this in the first place?

thanks!

As I recall, there is at least one person on here who has used this pedal.
Would I recommend it? Probably not. I also remember reading somewhere about Bootsy's current pedalboard setup, and he had a 105Q on there, not the Snarling Dogs pedal. Plus it looks pretty cheesy.

it often amazes me with the technology that we have these days how hard it is to find a good pedal without having to drop a gagillion dollars. All the stuff bootsy used to use sounded great, now 30 years later we still are having to pay the same kind of money for a comparable sounding effect, or even more for the original vintage ones. This looks like a paycheck for bootsy unfortunately, as does his bass.

I tried a Bootsy wah in a store and thought it was broken. I went to another store that had one...same sound. Months later there was one at a Sam Ash, so I asked to try it. The end results were exactly the same...one of the worst sounding pedals I've ever heard.
Sadly, I'm under the opinion that this is another legend getting one helluva paycheck for the use of his name.

I used a Bootzilla wah until I destroyed it. I don't think it sounds good on it's own, but in front of the right distortion you can shred with it. The Fuzz is ok, probably on par with some of the more expensive fuzzes out there though. The Fuzz and the Wah didn't seem to work well together though, even though you'd hope they would being that they're in the same box.

I have a broken one.(it worked for about 4 months) I did some samples of it but they are no longer up and I don't have them anymore. It sounded great after my XXL but it is rendered of poor quality. What can you expect from a company that is associated with Rocktek.
