Red face Borrowing a flanger - sounds great!

Lat night I told my band mates that I was looking for a cheap phaser to make the synth / drum solo part of "Rocky Mountain Way" sound cool, but I have a hard time justifying the expenditure for just a few bars in one song.* I don't think I'd use it for anything more than those few bars. Long ago I had an MXR Phase 45, man that thing sounded GREAT with the bass. Unfortunately it's long lost.

So my drummer says "hey I have a flanger you can use" and went and dug up an original box letter AC powered MXR Flanger. Yes, the original Flanger that Eddie Van Halen used on "Ain't Talkin' Bout Love" and is now available as a reissue. This thing is complete with the box and instructions/warrantee card and is in VG condition! I tried it tonight, man, oh man does it ever sound fantastic!!!!

I'm nervous about using it though. It's a vintage pedal in very good condition, worth well over $100 if Ebay completed items are any judge.

Also, it's not what I'm looking for in this instrumental break. It's better than nothing, but I really am looking for a phaser not a flanger effect. Wish I still had the Phase 45. That thing was frggin fantastic.

* I do use a Boss bass distortion box for a similarly brief period of time in another song, but I already owned that pedal and have used it for a lot of stuff over the years.

I mine is the ONLY pedal that has survived on my pedalboard for over like 4 months. It's been on there since I first got into pedals, about a year and a half ago. Same settings too.

I really liked the MXR Flanger on bass. I got some great bass tones out of it. Couldn't stop myself from sounding like Eddie Van Halen with it though.
