Boss AW-3 and external LFO source for the filter cutoff control

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi there,

I've been reading some threads around here on TB about the different ways of getting a 'bass wobble' (very interesting and usefull threads, BTW) and a question came up when I tried to figure out how to get some 'wobble sounds' with the pedals I currently own.

Does my Boss AW-3 work with an external LFO source (like an MP 201, for example, connected to the EXP/CTL input) controlling the filter cutoff, instead of just with an expression pedal?

In other words... is the EXP/CTL input on AW-3 a CV input?

I've searched the forum for some answers, but I didn't find nothing about this specific pedal.

Thank you, in advance.

I don't think it is a CV input. Expression / passive controls only as far as I'm aware.

This might work. Best bet is to email the builder -- he's very responsive and does a lot of custom work, so if this doesn't work he can make something that will.

That's cool!
Isn't there a way to make that pedal tap tempo?
Otherwise you won't really be able to use it in a band...

@swimming bird:

Thank you very much, i'll follow your advice!
It seems like a very usefull tool; and i guess it would probably be better if the speed rate could be controlled with an expression pedal...

@albibass
I didn't understand if you were talking about the AW-3 or the LFOmodbox; you can tap the tempo on the AW-3... but it seems you were talking about the second one, right? Tap tempo on the LFOmodbox or the possibility to control the speed rate with an exp pedal sound wonderfull, i guess. Thank you for your post.
