Hello all,

I did a search and couldn't really find my answer, but I was wondering if anyone has ever done a comparison of the aw-3 vs. the fx25b?

The AW-3 sucks a lot of bottom IMHO. Regret that I didn't buy a used FX25B when I had the chance... 'till the day I got the MXR BOD.

I've tried the AW-3 in store,...hated it,...

The DOD unit is better regarded and seemingly more readily available on the used market for cheap.

If you can afford new prices I'd get the Source Audio Soundblox Bass Envelope Filter. It's ~$120 and way more versatile than both the AW-3 and the FX25b,...albeit a bit more of a space hog.

I bought an AW-3....returned it the next day. It sounded way too artificial to my ears. It was my first filter/wah thing and had not properly researched those effects (I discovered TB and Harmony Central shortly after) and I was very disappointed. I remember a setting where the bloody thing went an obnoxious and unstoppable "wah-wah-wah-wah" and I fought the envy of pulling out a Louisville slugger just to see what kind of mileage I could get out of a flying pedal.

Then I discovered other filters, including a FX25B, which I still have and use. Without really ABing them, the FX25B felt... "warmer" and brought me closer to those funky sounds. I found the pedal worked better for me when looped through a blender (in my case, a Boss LS-2), to avoid volume drop issues.
