Boss BEB-7 superior to Amp EQ?

Sign in to disble this ad
I'm really working on dialing in my sound/tone.

I own an Ashdown Mag210t 300w bass amp but also have a pedal board that has a Boss GEB-7.

Now, am I better of using the amps EQ, the GEB-7 or blending both?

I really think in my head I am confusing things.

I use a Sansamp RBI and have one of these on my board. I use it for a small clean boost with just a bit of a bump in bass and mids.

What are the frequencies that your amps EQ allow you to change compared to the Boss pedal? I would use one or the other.

This is the thing the amp controls freqs. that the pedal doesn't and vis versa.

GEB-7 = 50hz 120hz 400hz 500hz 800hz 4.5k 10k
A-MAG = 100hz 340hz 660hz 1.6k 7k

+ Deep setting 8dB @ 50hz
+ Bright setting 10dB @ 10kHz

I've had problems with my sound being muddy, especially at the low end, so I'm looking at boosting the lower mids.

I'm playing a P with EMG pickups.

Use the amp eq for your normal sound (the Ashdown should be enough) and use the GEB7 for a gain boost or tonal change. I use a GE7B to get my fretless tone and volume when I switch basses.

^^^ This is a good approach.
