the c2-2b is a ce-2 with two differences: the lower frequencies donīt get affected by the chorus that much to prevent a muddy sound (the high pass for the fx sound is set to a higher frequency), and instead of a fixed direct/chorus signal ratio, you have the fx level knob that lets you dial in just the right amount of chorus.
to me, this is one of the best chorus pedals ever produced. people often overlook the fact that what may sound too subtle on its own might just do perfectly well in the mix, whereas sounds trippy on its own can get lost in muddiness.
try playing low d (five string) eights to a tune and then compare the two chorus pedals again. the ce-2b does a perfect job in this situation as the eights are still defined, but when you go for a fill in the higher register, the chorus comes out stronger.
reminds me of the guitar player steve khan who uses an old ibanez dcf-10 modulation pedal, he sets it so that "when i do single note lines, you barely hear the chorus, but when i play double stops or chords, they bloom" (that was not an exact quote, but he said something like that in an interview once.
but my taste might be different from you guys, because i also love the bf-2b in a "chorus" setting (manual=delay time set to max, regen set to zero, depth and rate to taste). very useful if you wanna cop the bass sound on "pop life" by prince.
btw since i did the fx level knob mod to my small clone clone (what a name), it is much more useful for bass guitar. i even wanted to sell it to a guitar player before. of course, you also need the depth pot mod.
