Boss CS-3 Humphrey Modded vs other compressors??

I recently got a Boss CS-3 with the Bass Humphrey Audio mod.

I'm curious to what other owners use as settings. I recently changed from an Aphex Punch Factory.

Well, compared to other comps, there are infinite differences. Some of them are subtle. If you have a more specific question about comparison, let us know.

As far as settings, really the only important thing IMO is to keep the sustain knob as low as possible, while still getting some compression. I find that 9:00 is pretty good for most basses, but anywhere from 8:00 to 10:00 will work, depending on the output level of the specific bass, and how much compression you want.

I only messed with it once before a gig, and I bet I had the sustain up too high. Thanks for the tip.

I've been luvvin' my Humphrey CS-3 for 2.5 years now & still going strong. I set the LEVEL at 2-4:00, depending on the bass, TONE at 12:00, ATTACK at min, SUSTAIN at 10:00. I am a bit of a sustain slut though, so don't be afraid to back the SUSTAIN off a bit!

Yeah. Last night I turned the level to around 2 or 3, Tone at 12, Sustain at around 8 or 9,and almost no attack. It sounded great. Thanks!
