| The hold function can be relatively useful for making noise. Unfortunately it won't oscillate, so if you're looking to make noise you'd be better off with an analog delay.
If you're looking for a traditional delay sound I would get the FS-5U. (or other tap tempo) With digital delays, if you're the slightest bit off tempo it becomes painfully obvious... especially on bass. If you're not careful you'll get a wall of crap very quickly.
The dotted notes and triplets are a cool touch. I never used the reverse setting in a band, but it sounds pretty cool.
The only time I find delay to be useful is if you're playing incredibly ambient music.... postrock/shoegaze type stuff. I could never really find a use for it in traditional rock/punk type bands, but hey, if you're playing rock, and can use it that's awesome.
