Boss DD-5? should it be my first delay?

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey all, gonna get my first delay pedal, it's a Boss DD-5. Buying it locally, also getting a Crybaby bass Wah from the same guy. I can't find much info from google searches except for pics and nothing on here as to how it stacks up against the other two Boss delay pedals available (DD-3 and DD-7). Just looking for some helpful info on it, pros and cons to the other ones, and insight on it in comparison with the other ones. Would I be better off just buying a new DD-3 or DD-7? TB expertise would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance.

I had a guitar player friend that had one. It was a fun pedal. I can't compare it to the other 2 pedals but the hold function was a lot of fun from what I remember.

As a DD-7 owner I can tell you it also has a hold-function (looper), analogue mode (is pretty cool), reverse delay mode, up to 3200ms delay, and a jack for an external tap tempo. the I'm very happy with it.Also the DD-7 has stereo ins and outs, whereas the DD-5 has a mono in and a 'panning' out.

I was a big fan of my DD-5 when I had it.

Well thanks for your insight so far. Does anyone know how long they were made for? From what I've found in search forums on various gear sites, it was new around 1995 and has been discontinued since 2006. Is this accurate?
