Boss Dynamic Wah... tell me about it!

How much should one pay for it used?

Is it really cool? Would it give me different sounds then my Mini Q-Tron and my Bassballs or sound pale compared to them?

Is my old Digitech BP8 a fair trade for a Dynamic Wah?

i always feel like i loose a lot of low end with the dynamic wah. ive had it for a long time, and there are some nice sounds in it,

but i definitely don't use it all that much due to the tone issues.

I just got a used AW3 for 50 bucks and so far it seems pretty nifty for a pedal that size, enough control to tweak sounds but not so many that you get overwhelmed. The up, down and sharp filters are what you'd expect. The humanizer seems to have a touch of fuzz and the 'vowel' filters offer some interesting sounds. The Tempo wah is a pretty interesting effect but dunno if I'd use it on bass but perhaps some rhythm gtr parts or synth lines.

i had one a while back had to sell it as i needed some dough for a new od pedal.

i would get the expression pedal really does it alot of good! it does cut lots of top end tho! even on the aw3 with the dedicated bass input! but its a very cool pedal!

and the vocalizer is cool but does distort a bi tto much but def cool!

Had one for a little while and it didn't impress me too much: sold it for a Q:BALLS then traded that for a Groove Regulator...never looked back (besides now I guess!) It lost a little low-end but not that much but overall the filters didnt have that QUACK/STANK/FUNKINESS to me

I had one for a couple of years. It spent most of that time sitting in its box. Too much of a level drop (especially in the low end) when used live. I'm much happier with the 3 Leaf Groove Regulator and the Chunk Agent 00Funk.

No f'n way, the BP8 is a super cool piece of gear and has a better envelope filters and so much more.

That said i have been using a AW3 for a bit now and really dig it but can see why it does not get much love from bass players. It is great for adding a bit of swoosh but it certainly ain't stanky at all. It does play well with all the fuzzes so far and the Humanizer mode is interesting for adding some interest to a solo. I actually like it better in many ways than my old reliable Dr Q, Micro Q-Tron or the Digi BSW. It is also wicked cool on rhythm guitar parts.
