Boss EQ GEB-7

I have a Boss GEB-7 EQ pedal. We are getting ready to record in our make shift studio/barn. I am playing a Fender MIM Jazz 5 with passive pups. We have tracked a few songs just running my bass direct in and sounds pretty good but not having a lot of signal. Could i use the eq pedal to give myself a little boost and keep the settings flat? Was not relaly satisfied with the tone. May be coming from not having a strong signal. Not sure. Was thinking on getting a Tech 21 Bass driver or just stay with the eq. What's your opinion?

The GEB-7 will work as a boost, yes. Just make sure all the sliders except for the volume are flat, because even a little change can have a big effect on your sound!

I'd use it as a boost but also scoop out any parts of my signal that muddied up my tone.

I generally give a 3-5dB boost in the low-mid frequencies and keep the higher frequencies flat, then turn the gain slider up to increase your volume.

Also, if you're recording through a DI, and decent soundguy should have a DI that has a gain control that will boost your signal much more cleanly than your pedal. If he has that boosted all the way and you still are getting a signal that is far too quiet, you need to have your bass' electronics looked at.
