Boss EQ Pedal?

Sign in to disble this ad
Hello everyone

I've ordered a Marshall MB4210, simply because i love the sound of the 450H, but don't have the room or money for the stack, so i went with a smaller, but hopefully better for what i need. The one problem is that it doesn't have an EQ, has some good settings, but i want something to make my sound even better. I would love that sharp ampeg bass sound, but don't have money for an ampeg amp, but heard about a pedal that can make amps sound like ampeg amps, think its by sansamp? but anyway, i was thinking pluging my bass into the EQ and the Ampeg amp modeler, would this get me a good sound close to the likes of ampeg amps? This setup would be used for recording and gigging.

Well, I know that the Boss GEB-7 is a great investment, I've owned one for years and never play without it. It might not make you sound like an ampeg, but it's definitely a good asset.

Uh, from the specs I just read that amp has a three band eq on one channel and a three band with semi-parametric mid eq on the other, so you've got some eq capability. The VT Bass is the pedal you're referring to for simulating Ampeg amps. Very popular and pretty good at getting the Ampeg sound. VT Bass has a pretty effective eq on it as well, so you may not need an eq pedal, though it might come in handy at times. I have the MXR six band eq pedal on my board for those times when I need a little more precise control over my tone, but I can usually get a pretty good tone without it.

If you know how to use an EQ, yes. For me it's an "always on" pedal, and it can do a lot for your sound. I like graphic eq's better than semi parametric because graphic tells you which frequencies you are affecting.

I have two of them. They are very useful but need to be used carefully for best effect.
