Boss Flanger BF2 noise

Sign in to disble this ad
I recently picked up a Boss BF2 flanger and have noticed a decent level of noise - I'd refer to it as a swirling - when activated. It is clearly from the flanging effect as it rises and falls in time with the effect.

Is this just a bad pedal, or are all the BF2's this noisy? Should I return it and find something else (I love what I've been able to dial in with this one) or is it worth pulling apart and replacing some of the cheap components?

I haven't been able to experience very many flangers yet, so I'm pretty uneducated as to where this one falls as far as quality and adjustability, but I've been pretty happy with the overall effect except for the noise.

FWIW my BF2 is a noisy unit, but I love her just the same. Need an LS-2...

EDIT: and mine is a green label

mine is a green label as well and there is a decent amount of noise. i have mine set in a LS-2 and will sometimes blend some flanging in. i like the noise it makes and feel that it adds to the character of the pedal but to each his own!

I have the BF-2B and noticed the same thing. Put it in a loop and no issues. Enjoy it, some night call it 'mojo.'

That is kinda what I figured. I don't mind the noise, and it does disappear completely when I kick my Noise Box on (a very cool effect paired with the flanger) due to the noise gate.
