Has anyone heard one of those on bass?
They sound pretty sweet on guitar also in the lower gain settings so i wonder how it handles bass.

I have one.

It's not bad.
The octave fuzz isn't that amazing IMO.

You can get some interesting tones out of it... if you want your bass to sound like a saxophone.

IMO it's good for off-the-wall bass solos, but not good for backing up distorted guitars.

But it sucks out the low end.
That why I rather use a Hairy Balls now because that keeps an awesome deep low end while shredding in the lowest register.
I'm experimenting with the HB gate control to make it more suitable for fast heavy metal riffs.

The FZ-5 is not a bad fuzz pedal for your first step into the world of fuzz, but there are tons of better alternatives for fuzz pedal.

Thanks for the info.

Can the hairy balls give you that subtle dirt too or is it really agressive?

No, the Hairy Balls has no gain control, just an overall level control. Pretty aggresive fuzz.

That's what I like about it. Set and forget.
The Hairy Balls does have a boost function seperate from the fuzz. Clean boost until about 12 o clock, over that it start to growl like a hungry bear.

I've been looking for a subtle fuzz myself.
When I have the time I'll try if the FZ-5 can do subtle... but I just need to locate that pedal in my home. It's somewhere but it's hiding.

Hungry bears can sound pretty good at times so might give them a test.

Thanks to my modest collection, they have nowhere to hide

If you make an appointment you can test out pedals.

That store is a saviour for Europeans that want boutique pedals. Low prices and quick shipping.
