I couldn't find any info on this in the effects forum. Keyword "FZ-5" is to short for search results. And keywords "BOSS" and "fuzz" give you a bunch load of threads.

Has anyone tried the FZ-5?

There is COSM simulation on it and one setting is "Maestro".

I'm assuming that is the Maestro Brassmaster... right?

So: does this work well? Does it replicate that sound?
Also, what's the overall feeling about this pedal.

Is it a good fuzz pedal for that money?

I don't think that's a fair assumption, maybe if it was a bass specific pedal, but Maestro made a few different fuzzes.

I just found out it was modelled after the Maestro FZ-1A, whatever that pedal is.
I don't know the range of pedals Maestro used to have.

A Malleko B:Assmaster, is that a good replicater?

You know what, I'll try the FZ-5 out tomorrow in the store.
I just wanted some basic facts about it.
So I'd know how to fiddle with it and what to pay attention to.

Lemme know how it goes. I've been a little interested in the FZ-5, but figure it would sound so great on bass (that is, keep any low end). That and no one mentions it around here.

These are very high quality pedals that sound good, I've never owned an original brassmaster so it's hard for me to say how close they sound to the original.

Well, I bought an FZ-5 today.
Normally I work on saturdays and sundays, but today is the first day of my two week vacation.

So, a quiet forenoon at my local music store, I was the only one there, and I could relax and test out whatever I want.

Tested out the FZ-5 long enough to make the decision to give it a home.
The "M"-mode on the pedal gives a nice sharp very bright fuzz sound... wich I happen to love. Ideal for lead bass.

I will post a review later on the day when I have played around with it some more.
(I'm not able to make sound clips. )

Also I bought a classical guitar today and I ordered my first double bass, which will arrive on friday.

Next week also some online orders will arrive, my first fretted bass in a long time (exclusivly fretless last years), an EHX POG, and an Ibanez Bass Synthesizer.

I'm giving in to my GAS.
