Boss GT-10B at high volume?

Sign in to disble this ad
I'm playing with bass pedals for my live rig, and they're a mess. I need something compact to give me compression and a good distortion.

i'm playing a musicman stingray thru a mark2 lmII and a mark2 4x10 cabinet. Rock n roll covers, 1970s to today's stuff, 4 hours a night, 4 nights a week.

Is the Boss GT-10B going to sound good, and high volume, in very big rooms? I like my clean amp tone now, but there are times (without compression) where there's too much variance in notes, and I need a constant volume. There are times when a little distortion/dirt is needed.

Does this effects unit sound good at high volume? I know a lot of things sound great in the bedroom but rough when you're playing an open air bar.
Should I buy the Boss GT-10B?

I've had it on high volumes and it sounded pretty good to me. You may have to play with volumes on the presets to get it all just right though.

I can stand over the Boss GT6-B with confidence. I've got stung before with keyboards thinking the next model up is bound to be better; only to discover there's something dropped. I'm sure it's the same in the effects pedal World. I've been watching the reviews of the GT10-B carefully and it sounds like an excellent board and a genuine upgrade in more ways than one from the GT6-B. Continuity is excellent - you have "your sound" before long. I hired a ballroom for cheap during the day, went wireless, my friend hooked up to the 6B via Midi / USB cable and adjusted my patches while listening to backing tracks through the PA. Wonderful. Still had to do some fine tuning on the fly for the first few gigs - but fantastic. Suck it & see.

i'm looking at the GT-6 as well... smaller, which is definitely an advantage. Cheaper too

I own the six and love it. But the synths suck on it.

ah but the GT-10 has the 38 seconds of loop function built it.... kinda hard to beat that.

The GT-10B is definitely an upgrade to the 6B. I own both, the 10B for 2 weeks now, and I must say I am loving it so far. The overall sound is better and cleaner. The interface is by far much more intuitive. It's just about the same size and weight but Boss has made some great improvements on the 10B that I believe most Bass players would appreciate. I just wish Boss added in the "Display Mode", the ability to see a list of all 4 patches in a bank, making it easier to find/chose the one you're looking for. I do believe, however that both the 6B and 10B has the 38 seconds loop time, (Awesome feature). I didn't use it at all on the GT-6B, couldn't find it (I didn't look for it in the Manual either). I really didn't need it for the gigs I do. However, I am most definitely using it on the GT-10B

Actually the GT-6b has 6 seconds of loop time at low quality and 3 seconds at high.
