I would choose the GT-10B, it's made of metal instead of plastic, and very very reliable.
The Gt-10B can run 15 effects at one time for each patch.
It has awesum amp modelling, the effects are better and more in-depth than the Line 6.
It has Dual channel signal routing (paralleled effects), the effects can be placed in any order you want.
The channel mode can be set to many options, including frequency splitting between channels, or dynamic sensing, where your playing volume can change channels.
Large display which can be set to simple editing (4 knob stomp) or in-depth editing (effect parameter list mode), and an EZEDIT graphical effect constuctor.
GT-10B has strero 1/4" jack outputs and XLR balanced output, with independantly controlled levels.
There is an external effect loop where an external pedal or your bass amp's preamp can be one of the effects blocks and movable in the effects chain.
There is a 40 second Phrase Looper, a USB port for Audio and Midi I/O to a computer for recording, editing & backups, and using the GT-10B as a VST plugin.
The GT-10B is highly configurable with the use of 8 assigns for each patch, allowing any pedal to control any of the 700 effects parameters, up to 9 events can be controlled for a single pedal.
Extra expression pedal or dual foot switch pedals can be plugged in to the GT-10B.
he GT also has 200 preset patchesand 200 user configurable patches.
There is a free patch editor in the signature below, and Boss provide Librarian software too.

maybe someone wants to chime in for the Line 6 now.

try both side by side in the shop if you can.. my pick is the GT-10B..

I haven't reviewed the GT-10B since it first came out. But my recollection is:

* Line 6 has guitar patches, GT-10B is bass specific ONLY
* Line 6 has excellent USB compatible patch editor/manager including great online user patch library. Boss has Gumtown's MIDI utility, but no excellent company provided utility or library. Which is extremely unusual IMO.
* BOSS has excellent MIDI support - MIDI clock support, Line 6 does not, MIDI controller functions (can send MIDI patch changes to external devices), Line 6 does not to my recollection.
* BOSS has excellent assigns, really good stuff

I haven't tried the Boss model but I'll put it this way: I have the X3 Live and I wouldn't recommend it. It works for what I want it to, but the shoddy physical construction of the unit is it's downside. I've used it lightly for a few years for home rehearsal and a few gigs and I've already had to crack it open to fix the stomp buttons on it and I don't stomp hard on the buttons. There were several people that had major problems with the unit when it first came out due to metallic paint flecks on the inside of the unit landing on the circuit board. I don't know if this is an issue Line 6 has resolved but I've never had that problem.

If you like the way the Line 6 sounds, I would recommend the older Bass Pod XT live. I sold mine right after I got the X3 and have regretted it. The X3 has a lot more features but the Bass Pod XT Live was easier to use. If you use the old Bass Pod XT live you'll also need a direct box if you want to go through a snake to the FOH mixer.

I went with the boss this time around and I like it better than I ever liked the X3. Mostly because of effects chain ordering. You might only have 1 copy of each effect, but you can make the chain order whatever you want.
