Question Boss Gt-6b (ect) HELP!?!?

Sign in to disble this ad
I recently just looked into buying a BOSS GT effects processor for my bass and i found the boss GT-6B, which boss produced mainly for the bass. My dad said he was always looking for a GT pedal/processor, but people have told him to stay away from any of the GT-6's in general because they are very confusing pedals. And that the GT-8 or 10 is very good. So now I'm in a bit of a jam because there's a bass player on youtube who uses the GT-6b and it seems to work great and its something I could use. Plus there isnt any other GT pedal that was meaning to support mainly the bass. For anybody out there that might have a BOSS GT pedal or have used the GT-6b give me your feed back. I would really appreciate it.

Well there are other GT pedals. The GT10b, and GT20b a smaller version. I had a GT6b for a while and it worked just fine for me. There is a lot that you can get in there and modify, with some really deep editing. I ended up getting an Line 6 M13, to have the more simplicity of the individual stomps, and able to have any pedal in any order.

I use a GT-10b. Personally, I find it pretty easy to use.

I fully understand people saying that it is complicated to use. It can do a whole heap of really cool stuff and you really do need to take some time to work out how to use it.

The presets are a great way to explore the range of sounds you can get from it - they are a great starting point. Personally, I start by finding something vaguely like what I am after and then tweak it to be what I need.

I think the GT-10b is a great effects processor - a subjective opinion I readily admit.

I downloaded the manual when I got my GT6-B.

Once you understand how it works, its very easy to program the different effects and you can go from subtle like adding some compression or reverb to very deep programming, like creating slap lines. I also dig the cab emulator, 1x18, 4x10 etc.

You have a ton of wiring options too, you can run two outputs to 2 different amps, DI out, effects loop etc.

Also its built like a tank, solid chassis and heavy-duty switches.

The downside is that its a beast, quite heavy to lug around.

Sorry but I have to correct you. The GT6B does not have an fx loop. The routing options are quite limited. The main outputs are either mono (1 amp) or stereo (2 amps). The XLRs are either mono/stereo, or wet/dry.

there is the "ME" series of Boss multi-effects, which are entry level ones. the ME-20B and the ME-50B.

Then there are the "GT" series, the GT-6B which was out in 2002, and the newer and much more featured GT-10B.

It depends on what you are after and how much you want to spend.
I had the GT-6B and now have the GT-10B. The 10B is far superior in effects and signal routing.
