Sign in to disble this ad
i have a hartke 5500 ive always gone
bass->pedal->amp
the other night i tried through the fx loop and adjusted with the dry/wet dial but it actually sounds worse even with it at fully wet. am i doing something wrong? is it actually that bad? should i use a A/B? id like to be able to switch from fully dry to just a button, im not able to use the bypass button due to the fact i have it set for fx on/off. just wondering what other gt-6b users are doing and if im missing something. thnks

I used to have a GT-6B and only used it bass>GT-6B>Amp input.
Sounds like your amp has a parallel effects loop, so it's not much good for thre GT-6B.
Some people use the multi effects like Bass>Effects>amp effects return, bypassing the amp's preamp section and using the multi effects preamp instead.
I also found the GT-6B preamps not so good, and i traded up to a GT-10B, way better preamps and loads better effects (except the synth has less parameters).
The GT-10B has a external loop (like an effects loop in itself) which can be used to setup in four cable method (4CM) where the amp's preamp section becomes selectable and movable within the effects chain.

For the GT-6B, if it sounds good running as you have it before, and you are happy, then i would leave it as is.
The effects loop on your amp being parallel type, mixes dry and wet signals, and in this case causes strange phase cancelling, making it sound like there is a hole in the tone.

thnks for the feedback, as i stated before i would like to have the option of true pedal bypass, so would an a/b box work for this? or line switch? sorry im new to this but i have seen some other posts but they were mainly dealing with stompboxes, im not really too sure if this fell into that catergory.

Yes, a multi fx pedal is still an instrument level device, just like most any other stomp box. It's rack mounted effects that go in an amps fx loop.

You can add an extra footswitch as "subCTL1" and with the use of the Assigns, set this for "ByPass" on each patch you use.
example..
Assign 1 > 'on'
Target = "bypass on/off"
Source = "subCTL1 pedal"
Source mode = "toggle"
