Boss GT10 vs GT10B

Sign in to disble this ad
I'm thinking of getting a multi effects unit and I'm leaning towards the Boss GT10(B) unit. My problem is that lately I've been playing an equal amount of bass and guitar.

My questions is if you were only going to get one effect unit and use it for both guitar and bass, would it be the GT10 or the GT10B?

Thanks,
LeonD

I have the ME-50B and I can get killer sounds out of my strat. Shoot, if I add reverb and the bass boost it can sound like an acoustic!

Hi,
I am presuming that there are similarities between effects pedals, here is my experience:
I have the (ME-50,) (ME-50B,) (GT-8) & (GT-6B) The GT8 for Bass, is limited. It works, but in my opinion it's not calibrated for the low frequencies & seems to suck volume; however the GT-6B covers that lot with ease. It's not ideal for lead guitar, but you can get acceptable patches. If you’re a person that has a dedicated patch for each song, you might run into trouble with your guitar patches, however if like me, your intention is to use a set of patches for bass & guitar, based on effects & EQ. as your overall sound, in theory, GT10-B should pass the test. In saying this, I have no experience of the GT10 or GT10-B, yet ! dying to try them out.

What about the Line Six Pod X3? Anyone familiar with the bass effects on it?

Thanks for the replies, guys.

I'm actually looking into the Line6 M13. If you don't need amp sims (and I don't) this may be the perfect effects pedal.

The GT-10B has 4 guitar preamp models to use and does produce quite a nice guitar tone, i have made a few guitar patches.
The GT-10B has the option of switching between 3 different inputs, each with a different level and presence control.

I would recommend the GT-10B over the GT-10 for Bass work, there are a few differences in items like .. the GT-10B has...
>different distortions, the HiBand one is cool- adds dist to the top end without coloring the lows.
>better compressor, especially the multi-band with 3 different frequency sections with separate ratio's.
>has built in xlr D.I. sockets.
>has Bass and Guitar preamps.
>has only one preamp, but it is movable anywhere in the chain.
>has more options in the dual channel, like frequency divided channel splitting.
>does not have autoriff, a.c processor, sitar sim, but has enhancer and everything else is the same as the GT-10.

The GT-10B has better low end tracking than the GT10 (obviously it is made for the bass) but the tracking of the upper frequencies is the same as the GT10.
